
Teresa Haggerty uses a holistic approach to help individuals manage their greatest God-given assets: the body, mind and spirit. Teresa believes that lasting change happens from the inside out and the motivation to change comes from deep within our spirit. Change that comes as a response to external pressure can only last short-term. Teresa helps motivated individuals access resources that will guide them in make energizing choices for positive change that starts now and lasts a lifetime.
After completing a Master’s Degree in Administration, Teresa spent six years working in the non-profit world in a Christian church in New York City before finding her way to the opposite end of the spectrum in the insurance industry for the last eight. Teresa is the sixth of seven children in an athletic family. When the Haggertys weren’t attending high school basketball, baseball, softball, field hockey or soccer games they were spending weekends camping, canoeing, hiking and playing in Northern Maine. This upbringing rooted Teresa in the practice of taking care of the body through exercise, nutrition and reflection.
As a college scholarship athlete, Teresa suffered a traumatic accident, which allowed her to experience first-hand the depression and debilitating powerlessness that accompanies exhaustion and injury. Her background in athletics and interest in wellness led her into the fitness industry 18 years ago as a certified fitness practitioner. Her interest in wellness along with a degree in psychology, studies in theology and ontology has helped her translate heady concepts into a down-to-earth approach of self-empowerment.
As a result of her own journey of self-discovery, Teresa recognizes that people have their own answers but sometimes those answers are locked inside. Teresa seeks to empower people to achieve wellness in body, stewardship of finances and enlightenment in spirituality. Teresa created Empower You To Be to guide, nurture and support people in their search for a more fulfilling life.
